• Allow dogs to settle before the start
• Redirect fixation calmly; avoid dragging your dog backwards on the leash

• Please advise of any medical updates, injuries, or if your bitch could be in heat
• Ensure vaccinations and tick prevention are up to date 🕷️
• Warm up properly, start slow, and cool down well

• Bring poop bags and clean up after your dog
💡 Top tip:
Arrive with your dog in a normal walking collar or harness. Change into Canicross gear at the venue and remove it after the run. This helps signal working mode versus social mode.
🐾 Canicross guidance
In any Canicross activity, your dog should be running happily ahead of you. If your dog falls behind and you end up pulling them along, it’s instant disqualification. You’re a binomial team, you need to move together at the pace of the slowest teammate. If your dog lags, stop immediately and check why. If it’s unusual, or you notice tiredness, injury, or illness, get your dog checked by a vet before Canicrossing again. If it’s a fitness gap, slow down and build your dog’s fitness up more gradually.
And to address the more common issue in this regard, to our enthusiastic four-legged teammates: we ask that you please follow this rule closely too. Listen for the “steady” cue or your human’s cues, and be gentle with your human. You will need to gradually increase your human’s fitness levels over time.
🐾 Social run reminder
This is a social run, not a race. Enjoy the pack, practice skills, and condition your dog in a relaxed, supportive space. Go at your own pace.
We do track team PBs and times, so after the run please send your 2.5 km or 5 km time so we can update the log ⏱️
Have an awesome run everyone, and I’ll see you all back on the trails next week! 🐕🦺
🐾❤️ Run. Walk. Make a Difference. ❤️🐾
This Saturday, we’re not just getting outdoors with our dogs, we’re coming together to help animals in need.
Every pawprint, every step, and every registration fee will help provide much-needed food for the animals cared for by the Kloof & Highway SPCA. For many of these animals, your support means a full tummy, comfort, and hope while they wait for their forever homes.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or simply an animal lover looking to make a difference, we’d love to have you join us. Bring your dog, bring your family, and most importantly, bring a friend. The more people who participate, the more support we can provide to animals who need it most.
Together, we can enjoy the outdoors, strengthen our community, and show that a small act of kindness can have a big impact.

Heritage Day Social Run – Cradle Moon Lakeside Game Reserve 🐾
Hi Everyone! Thought it would be nice to have another get together at the beautiful Cradle Moon Lakeside Game Reserve to celebrate Heritage Day!
Being a game reserve which is not normally pet friendly, we need to be very careful about ensuring our code of conduct is properly adhered to.
There will unfortunately be a cost of R50 entry fee and R50 trail usage charge for this social run, payable directly at the shop at the end of the run. No wrist band, no exit!
📅 Date: Thursday 24th September
⏰ Time: 06h30
📍 Location: Cradle Moon Lakeside Game Reserve
📌 Meeting point: At the car park. Please let the gate guard know that you are part of the Canicross South Africa group. Special permission has been provided for us. Please also be aware that only those who have rsvp’d will be able to gain access.
🗺️ Route info:
We will only have a 5 km option available, which is the normal pink route hiking trail, well marked and easy to follow.
It is important to note that Cradle Moon is very busy over public holidays, although normally 06h30 is still quieter. Please be extremely respectful of other trail users and keep dogs away from other people. Cleaning up behind our dogs is very important, please make sure you have poop bags with you or wait for me if you don’t.
Please also be VERY mindful to keep dogs on leash at all times and under no circumstance may a dog chase any wildlife. You will need to be ready to redirect your dog’s attention away from wildlife. Please also take note that zebra in particular, as well as several larger antelope species, can be notoriously bad tempered with dogs. Do not get too close to zebra or larger antelope as they may not move away.
🌦️ Weather forecast (Sunday morning):
the weather will be sunny and cool, with a temperature of approximately 14°C to 15°C. Ideal running conditions.
📊 Attendance
Please ensure to RSVP at the button below ⬇️ please confirm if you’ll be attending as numbers are capped for this run.
