3 June 2026 · Staff Writer

Exciting developments are on the horizon for Canicross South Africa as we reflect on the recent International Canicross Federation (ICF) Annual General Meeting (AGM). With the upcoming World Cup in Poland and next year’s World Championships in Slovakia on the agenda, our community is poised for significant international participation.

South Africa’s membership in the ICF has officially been recognized, marking a monumental step for our country in the global canicross scene. This recognition comes on the heels of a robust membership base, which has facilitated the growth of our clubs across the nation. We are thrilled to announce that we now have four active clubs in South Africa, serving as a testament to the increasing popularity of canicross.

Additionally, our introduction to canicross courses has seen a surge of new participants eager to join the ranks of this exhilarating sport. We are also proud to introduce multiple new venues that enhance the canicross experience. From Riversand Farm Village and Jodev Farm to Hobby Park in the West Rand and Cradle Moon, where we’ve enjoyed runs alongside plains game, the opportunities for adventure are endless. Let’s not forget our vibrant clubs in Cape Town, including the Southern Suburbs and Cape Winelands, which are thriving and welcoming new members.

As we gear up for these exciting competitions and opportunities, we invite all dog lovers and athletes to join us in this dynamic sport. Get involved, connect with your local club, and unleash the potential of canicross in South Africa!
